A buffet party
Eat as much as you please
Make your pick
Or better still, eat what you get
Chef cooks and serves
Food piles like mountains

The fast eaters,
They choose greed
Temporary satisfaction
Only a few actually get the food they want
Some eat in sections
And others garble it all up in seconds
Ending the party all too soon
With a stomach ache

But some are slow eaters
(If they are lucky to get what they want)
They chew for days and swallow for months
I think most of them regurgitate
Party goes on longer for them
If not too long

The almost too late,
They almost never get anything
And if they did, it’s not what they want
They did not enjoy this party
But it lasted a bit
And they had at least a plate

In the end almost everyone sort of gets cheated
But the race is not for the swift
Eat faster so you can have more!
Eat slower and enjoy the moment!
Work harder for the food you want!

The greedy continue to fight for food
But they only get the leftovers and bones
They swallow up so much
That they swell and burst
The slow eaters barely finish one meal
And food becomes overwhelming
I think that they might choke a little too much
The almost too late
Regrets coming to the party
But tries to at least get a decent meal
That his stomach craves

This poem is not about slow eaters
Or fast eaters
Or almost too late’s
Or even food
I myself may have forgotten
Or maybe I’m just hungry
