“What is poetry?
To see the world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour”— William Blake

  • Face Your Fears

So many times, we give up on our hopes, dreams, aspirations because of fear. We let our fears overwhelm us and stop us from rising higher than where we are. Choose today to face your fears.

    FACE YOUR FEARS
    .
For long have I being held back
From doing the things I can
Things I know that I’m best at
It’s this fear that’s held me back

It’s this fear of the unknown
Fear of being judged or ignored
Fear of failing and not rising
So much ‘what-ifs’ in my head

But that fear I shall ignore
    I’ll be confident and sure
I’ll look fear right in the eye
And say ‘You’re no match for me’
‘You are not holding me back
From doing what I’m best at’

  • Lily Among Thorns

    LILY AMONG THORNS
    .
    Pretty, soft, pure and white
    Growing by the riverside
    Blooming, charming day and night
    Floating above waters high
    All around her beauty charms
Are thorns with such prickly sight
    Ready to inflict some pain
And choke out her blissful state
    Then must she tread carefully
    As a lily among thorns

  • Rabbit and bear poem

Rabbit and bear were best of friends
Rabbit and bear went out to play
Rabbit and bear saw an apple
Rabbit and bear want the apple
Rabbit and bear don’t want to share
Rabbit and bear begin to fight
Rabbit and bear fight each other
Rabbit and bear hurt each other
Rabbit and bear hit the apple
Rabbit and bear loose the apple
Rabbit and bear feel sad and blue
Rabbit and bear hug each other
Rabbit and bear don’t fight again
Rabbit and bear learns a lesson
“It’s is good to share, don’t be stingy”

  • On a Sunday Morning

Here’s a poem to lighten up your Sunday…

    ON A SUNDAY MORNING
    .
As I wake up from my sleep
So does my heart start to leap
    Because it’s Sunday morning

The air is warm and lovely
The birds on the tree are singing
    On this beautiful Sunday morning

    The bells begin to chime
    This is the perfect time
To go to the house of God
    And worship Jesus our Lord

    How I love Sunday morning
    The divinely created morning
    For us to sing praises
To Him in our different languages

    Such wonderful Sunday morning
    Full of happiness
    And joyful gladness!

  • Bliss

    A poem for nature lovers

    BLISS
    .
    Blue sky and orange clouds
A blissful sunset at his peak
    Green grass and brown soil
Provides all comfort that I seek
    Bird songs and splashing falls
    Spells away all worries far
    Light breeze and soft grass
To pure joy there is no bar
    Right here and right now
I rest my eyes and drift away

  • There’s a beautiful place…

    THERE’S A BEAUTIFUL PLACE

    There’s a beautiful place
    Where the flowers grow bright
    And the wind plays round

    There’s a beautiful place
    Where the sun shines bright
And the birds give a melodious sound

    There’s a beautiful place
Where the stars in the night
    Shine with beauty all around

    There’s a beautiful place
    Where the streams flow right
    And waters Eastward-bound

    There’s a beautiful place
    Where all pain is gone
    And all dreams come true

    There’s a beautiful place
    Waiting for me…

  • Father’s Day

A father’s love is special and important in the life of every child. As we celebrate our earthly fathers, let’s not forget to show love to the fatherless and to the orphans. Let them know that we have an heavenly father who will always be with us.

  • On a Rainy Day

    ON A RAINY DAY
    .
    Pretty diamond crystals
    Running on my window
    Making pretty patterns
    I’m here to say hello

    Wetting all my flowers
    Just to make them grow
    Making all that music
    What a lovely show

    When the show is over
    Out I’ll go to play
    Splash in many puddles
    On this rainy day

  • Shining star

Welcome to the month of May! This season, may we shine bright like the stars we are. Follow Grace Damilola Poetry on Facebook and Instagram for more content:-)

    SHINING STAR

A star is a shining light
    The shining star shines bright;
Just as stars shine in the sky,
So do humans rise up high

    All humans have a star
Which is meant to shine far
But some are veiled from sight
While some do not shine bright

A star’s glory is in its light
A star without light is a shameful sight
I want to be the shining star
    Rising high and shining brighter
Trying to make the world better

I want to be a wonder to the world
And by nobles and great men called
I want to be a shining star
The one that will make and not mar.

  • Easter poem

    JESUS IS ALIVE FOREVER

Ring the bell, ring it loud
Make a glad and joyous sound

    Jesus rose from the grave
He has come to heal and save

Joy for all and hope for man
Life and light is free for man

    He arose to paradise
    He made all the sacrifice

Ring the bell, ring it loud
    Jesus is alive forever
