“What is poetry?
To see the world in a grain of sand
And heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour”— William Blake

  • Good Friday poem

    Today we remember his death
How he was buried in dirt
    How he went through pain
    For our justification and gain
    How he was whipped
    Afflicted and stripped
Like a criminal was he treated
    So that death be defeated
Shame and sorrow he bore for us
Stripes and wounds he endured for us
He descended into the depths of hell
To save us from sin when Adam fell
He chose to be cursed for our sake
Eternal life he gave for us to take
    He conquered death and sin
Gave us a chance to win
He died for you and I
He came to lift us high
    From sin and filth
    From dirt and silt
    Today we remember his death
The death of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • SHE’S A WOMAN

Happy international women’s day 🥳. Women are amazing individuals achieving great feats in our world today. For long, women have been discriminated against in different areas especially in politics and government. This year’s theme #BreakTheBias is calling on women to take a stand and fight against discrimination and bias. Women are CAPABLE. In celebration of Women’s day, here’s a poem I wrote (as promised)

    SHE’S A WOMAN
    .
She is beautiful, she is great
She is wonderful, up to date
She is courageous, she’s a hero
    She’s a warrior, not a zero
She is ambitious, she is smart
She is clever, she’s not daft
She is confident, she is boss
She is gold, and not just dross
She is a gem, she is rare
    She’s unique, she’ll truly care
She’s a star, she is sterling
    She’s a flower, she’s a darling
    She’s an empress, she’s a Queen
She rules the world, she’s sure to win
She is you, she is me
She’s a Woman; so is she

  • LET’S SHOW LOVE

    LET’S SHOW LOVE
    .
    Let’s show love
    To the ones in need
    To those who are good
    And kind in deed

    Let’s show love
    To the little ones,
    Orphans and widows
    And he who mourns

    Let’s show love
    To our moms and dads,
    Neighbours and strangers,
    Lasses and lads

    Let’s show love
    To that broken heart,
    That distant friend,
    Who needs a pat

    Let’s show love
    To the little pets,
    The chirping birds
    In their tiny nests

    Let’s show love
    To the world around
    No matter the tribe
    We’re duty bound

Sunday motivation from Grace Damilola Poetry. Follow Grace Damilola Poetry on Facebook and Instagram @Gracedamilolapoetry for more poems🙂

    OPEN YOUR EYES
    .
    Everyday we pass by
    Numerous opportunities lay by
But we fail to see them
Our eyes are strict and firm

    Many resources lay around us
All for each one of us
    But they lay a waste
Of its use, our eyes don’t have a taste

For how long will we refuse to see
The resources and opportunities at sea
They surface everyday batch by batch
But we pass by everyday without a catch

We are so unwilling to see new ways
We remain so stuck to our old ways
We complain of poverty and hunger in the land
It’s all because we refuse to look at our hand

    Open your eyes and see
Open them, let them be free
To see and appreciate nature around us
To have a chance to taste the waters around us

    The delicious sight of resources
    All from various sources
    The fragrant view of opportunities
    Such amazing abilities

Let us open our eyes to see
The resources and opportunities at sea.

  • TRUST IN THE LORD

    Trust! Trust! Trust!
    Who can I trust?
    I feel so lost
    The world is so unjust

    Brothers betray
    Sisters lead astray
    Kids have lost their way
    What more can I say?

    Man is at his worst
His heart is filled with lust
    For money ill-sourced,
    He’s ready to be cursed

    In ambush they lay
    Every night and day
    Ready to slay
    To get a bloody pay

    Give no one total trust
Man is vain and filled with lust
Trust in God; He’ll make a way
That is all I have to say

  • THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL YEAR

Good day from Grace Damilola Poetry. The new year is usually accompanied with new plans, goals, resolutions and so on but there is one cogent key we need to achieve our plans for the year. This short poem reveals the key to a successful year. Enjoy!

    THE KEY
    .
The journey of an achieved goal
    Begins with a step
    Planning and preparation
    Would surely help

    Who begins a new journey
    Without preparing at all?
    When challenges come,
    Such will surely fall

    Plan and prepare
    That is the key
    To achieve your goals
For the whole world to see.

  • Happy New Year!

2021 has been quite a year but all thanks be to God for sparing us to be alive in the new year. This is a piece from my heart to you in this new year.

    As the hours pass by,
    We anticipate a glorious end
    End of another
    Successful year
Though it could have been tough
Though it could have been rosy
    But what makes it successful
    Is the fact that we
    Survived

A year is not a fleeting second
But a lot of days and months
    If you could survive,
    You should be thankful
    To your maker

Another year, we’re set to take
May it be full of blessings,
    Joy, laughter and miracles
May those we hold so dear
    Remain closer to us
    May our enemies
    Remain under our feet
    May we live to see
    The end of many more
    Successful years. ©️Grace Damilola Durosaro
